Generals Sign Colorado Standout Jevon Griffin

 

 

The Sheridan College Generals are pleased to announce the first signee of their 2014-15 class with the addition of 6’4” 200lb guard Jevon Griffin of Denver East High School. Widely regarded as one of the top prospects in all of Colorado, Griffin just finished his decorated high school career with a State Championship in March and recently being named to the 2^nd-team All Colorado Team from the Denver Post.

 Griffin started his high school career at Kennedy High School, where he was a Freshman starter on the varsity team and had 20 points in his first varsity start. After transferring to Denver East for his junior season, Griffin was a member of teams that were ranked #1 in Colorado’s biggest classification, 5A, as both a junior and senior and he was named to the All-Colorado 2^nd-Team during both seasons. East lost in the State Title during Jevon’s junior year, and won the championship this past season. In the title game, Griffin had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

 

Griffin was also named 1^st-Team Denver Public League as a junior and senior, and was named to the All-Tourney State Team during his junior year. On a team with players also signed at Creighton and the University of Colorado this season, Griffin was a tremendous all-around asset, averaging 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. In the summer, Griffin played for one of Colorado’s top traveling teams, Chauncey Billups Elite.

 

Coach Smiley had this to say about Jevon: “We’re beyond excited to announce that Jevon will be the first member of our incoming recruiting class. We’ve targeted Jevon as a top priority for a long time, and getting Jevon’s commitment is a major piece for building our team for next year. Jevon is a big guard that can play multiple spots and guard multiple spots, and we do plan on using Jevon as a big lead guard because of his vision and feel for the game. We anticipate Jevon having an immediate impact on our program this coming season.”

The Generals are coming off of another stellar season in which they finished with a 27-6 overall record, Region 9 North runner-up, Final Four Appearance in the Region 9 Tournament, and ranked as high as #21 in the National Top 25 poll.
